Wara Juraku

Habitus has worked with traditional Japanese Plaster Finish for over 25 years in the United States.  We are recognized for introducing Wara Juraku Japanese Stucco to American projects. Suitable for interior & exterior wall applications, and composed of time-honored elements; sand (sao), straw and earth.

Wara Juraku has graced the wall surfaces of Japanese temples, castles and tea houses for centuries. In today’s modern architecture, we propose it for use in both residential and commercial projects. A unique wall finish material with natural properties and an ideal alternative to paint or wall paper.

Wara Juraku is natural, non-toxic and odorless (indoor air quality certified) It is applied by skim coat using a hand trowel for a smooth finish. It can also be applied by spray gun for more texture. The materials is delivered pre-mixed, simply add water and mix.

For interior wall application. Applied by hand trowel over gypsum boards which are latex primed or prepared with a base coast plaster. A sealer can be applied to improve performance and wear resistance. Please contact us to with any questions relating to application procedures. Sold by the case, 150 sq.ft. minimum. 

TEXTURES: various textures can be achieved depending on application tools and skill of plasterer. We typically recommend two textures; smooth by trowel, and spray-on using a hopper gun for more texture. Contact us to discuss your design ideas.
